Sigiriya, also known as the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, is one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic historical landmarks and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Rising nearly 200 meters above the surrounding plains, this ancient rock fortress was built by King Kashyapa in the 5th century. Visitors can climb the rock to see beautiful frescoes, the famous Lion’s Gate, landscaped gardens, and the ruins of a royal palace at the summit. The site also offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
