Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is a well-known elephant sanctuary located near Kegalle. Established in 1975, it was created to rescue and care for orphaned, injured, and abandoned wild elephants. Visitors can watch the elephants being fed, observe them roaming freely around the sanctuary, and enjoy the highlight of the visit—seeing the herd walk to the Maha Oya River for their daily bath. The orphanage offers a unique opportunity to learn about elephant conservation while experiencing one of Sri Lanka’s most famous wildlife attractions. 🐘🌿
